I took a much needed vacation to San Diego for a friend's wedding. Arriving in Los Angeles around 3am meant a quick stop in Fullerton for a short sleep before heading to San Diego. We stopped by Monkey Business, a non profit cafe in Fullerton, for brunch. Though the portions are small and the coffee not that great, it's nice to know that I'm supporting a great cause. A three-hour car ride later, we arrived in San Diego. Our first stop was, of course, the beach! We hung out for a bit and bought a funnel cake before heading off to the mall. Post #moneytoblow, we had dinner at pieology and headed off to our hotel to get ready for a night out. We ended up at some strangers' hotel room (ughhhh) before finally heading back to the hotel to sleep before the wedding day.
Is there anything as beautiful as watching a great friend get hitched? My friend Deb is probably the most beautiful person I know. She's so kind and genuine and graceful, I was seriously tearing up watching her walk down the aisle. The ceremony was short and sweet. The reception was cowboy/western theme with a lunch of baked beans and potato salad (amongst meats)! After the wedding, We headed to the beach for a last hoorah, though I did nap the whole time we were there. We ended the day with dinner at Slater's 50/50, a customizeable burger joint (with burger patties made up of 50% beef and 50% bacon?!). I had a portobello burger with their vampire sauce. So good!
Before we had to head back to real life, we went all touristy and bought matching bracelets and wandered around L.A. The trip was a nice refresher and I'm looking forward to the many mini vacations I'll be taking this summer.
