109. Taipei Photo Diary | Day 2
We decided to hit up Jiu Fen for the sole purpose of finding some taro balls. I really expected something along the lines of balls of pureed taro but I was greeted by a sweet, hot soup similar to Vietnamese che. I was silly enough to wear a short sleeve tee with some shorts on a gloomy, chilly day up in the mountains. Though it was warm inside the alleyways, my legs still suffered from the chill. We ended the day with ramen (really, really spicy ramen for me) and a look see around the Shida night market where I bought some stationary. I have noticed two things in my second day in Taipei. 1. There is a lack of fruit and vegetables in a lot of the foods. As someone whose main food staple is fruit and vegetables, I have been having a really hard time finding some foods appetizing when it's just fried, brown, or steamed. I need to find some greens soon. 2. Seeing all the older Taiwanese walk around and hanging out with their friends makes me think of my parents. I wonder if they'd be happier in Vietnam, a country where they know the language and culture. Perhaps a Vietnam trip is in order.
