103. Consumer Culture
I gave my debit card to my roommate to stop my spending habits. I got it back because I needed to buy gas and I haven't given it back yet. I told myself no more frivolous spending and I have been pretty good at keeping that promise. Until today. I went thrift shopping with my friend which ended up being a Japanese grocery store visit and yummy baked goods from Mahoroba Japanese Bakery in Sacramento. My favorites are the bacon and egg pastry and the curry pan. I am sooo looking forward to eating these tomorrow. Anyways, back to the consumption of material goods. I have been trying to sell my shoes since I have way too many. In the past when I would go to thrift stores, I would buy up everything that I liked. There was no such thing as self control for Yen, no editing of my cart of items I didn't particularly need or liked. I have since learned to constantly ask myself if I need this and clean out my closet on a monthly basis. It's been tough when I see something I really like but I have to remember that I have enough and I don't really need another pair of black heels or jacket.
