I made some of
these sandwiches because I had some leftover gruyere cheese from making asparagus gruyere tarts. I sliced the onions too thin and it took waaay too long for them to caramelize but in the end, I got to eat a yummy sandwich. If you only have onions in your pantry and some bread (and honestly any kind of cheese), you could whip this up in 40 minutes!
